5th Annual Harvest Festival – Wine, Art & All That Jazz
Bags on Sale Now!
The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s 5th Annual Clear Lake Harvest Festival to be held on Saturday, October 3rd, will once again showcase downtown Clear Lake with a celebration of wine, art and relaxing live music. Bags are on sale now! Visit www.clearlakeiowa.com to purchase your bag online, or you may call 800-285-5338. You may also purchase your bag by stopping in the Clear Lake Area Chamber Office at 205 Main Avenue. Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Bags are $20 each for those paying with check or cash, and $23.00 each for those paying with a credit card. Tax included in cost. This event has sold out of Harvest Bags in all prior events before the day of the Festival so get your bags ordered early.
Each year, the entire downtown area is transformed into a fun & festive fall atmosphere featuring a variety of musical entertainment, tastings of choice wines and an opportunity to browse the antique and specialty shops, restaurants and art galleries of our charismatic lake community.
Activities for the day will include wine and beer-‘samplings’, an expanded Farmers Market, unique vendors, seminars/demonstrations and, of course, great food. The ‘samplings’ will begin at NOON various locations TBA and will feature something for everyone, ranging from good affordable wines to library selections, and specialty beers. Featured Iowa wineries this year will include: Mt Valley Vineyard & Winery, Old Bank Winery, Prairie Moon Winery, Eagle City Winery; and also Worth Brewing Company (micro brewery) to name a few.
The afternoon kicks up with a variety of activities: plenty of live Jazz music, street artists, grape stomp competition, salsa-making contest, carriage rides, food and vendors market.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the farmers market, retail vendors, food and the jazz music but attendees are encouraged to purchase a ‘Harvest Bag’ for $20.00/Cash or Check & $23.00 with Credit Card ($25/Cash or Check & $28 with Credit Card) day of event if still available) to enjoy many of the other event activities. Included in each Harvest Bag are a festival pass, which grants access to all the day’s events; 15 ‘sampling’ tickets, a souvenir wine glass, gifts and more.

6 – 10 male actors
4 – 8 female actors
More than 10 young actors
Please prepare a song to sing at the audition and bring a sheet music for an accompanist.

Choral Arts Ensemble will open its 25th season with a concert featuring choral works chosen by audience survey, including music by Palestrina, Howells, Rachmaninoff, Whitacre, Lauridsen, and many others. A new work by the winner of our 25th Anniversary Season commissioning contest will be premiered. Presented at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2:00 pm, tickets are $25, $15, and $10. A pre-concert talk by Artistic Director Michael Culloton will begin at 1:30 pm.

The Austin Public Library is hosting a free Healthy Heart Seminar for women from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Saturday October 31st. Women are invited to bring a friend to this free even brought to the Austin Public Library by the Mayo Clinic and Women Heart Association. The 10:30 session will cover healthy eating and a light healthy lunch will be prepared and served following the program. The band, Fair Trade plays a unique mix of jazz and soft rock, old and new, from Mose Alison and Tom Waits to Roy Orbison and Robert Plant.
